Collision with hydro pole leads to impaired charge

TOWNSHIP OF PILKINGTON - On Apr. 22, 2017 at approximately 5:40 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene of a one vehicle motor vehicle collision on Fourth Line E, near Sideroad 4, Township of Pilkington.

Officers arrived on scene and located a female driver of a 2011 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle had left the roadway, went over a ditch and struck a hydro pole. 

While speaking with the female driver, officers believed her to be impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and brought to a local Police Detachment for further testing.

34-year-old Anita Illes of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 Mgs and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 16, 2017.

Her driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
