Concerned citizen call leads to impaired driving charge in Puslinch Township

Police say the witness watched the 71-year-old stumble out of their vehicle into the ditch

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH – On Aug. 30, 2021, at approximately 6:10 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment responded to a possible impaired driver on Forestell Road in Puslinch Township. A witness reported observing the driver exit the motor vehicle and stumble into the ditch.

Police located the vehicle and while interacting with the driver, determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Douglas Innes, 71-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Sept. 17, 2021.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
