A Guelph female was arrested for impaired driving Tuesday afternoon, after a passenger in her motor vehicle expressed concern she had been drinking, report Guelph police.

Approximately 3:40 p.m., police were alerted to a possible impaired driver on Auden Road and located the involved motor vehicle a short time later driving on Eastview Road. The female driver admitted she had been using prescription drugs as directed by her doctor, but a passenger in the vehicle noted the female had also been drinking. Officers were able to detect an odour of alcoholic beverage on her breath.

The driver was arrested for operation while impaired and became agitated, refusing to listen to officers or provide a breath sample. She was taken to the police station where she continued to refuse and began yelling and spitting, say police.

A 43-year-old Guelph female is charged with operation while impaired and failing to comply with a breath demand. She will appear in a Guelph court Nov. 16. Her driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.
