Police are investigating after a large quantity of copper wire was stolen late Tuesday or early Wednesday from a south end job site.

Police were called Wednesday morning to the site on Hanlon Creek Boulevard. Sometime overnight a gate was removed from its hinges to gain access to the site, then a plywood barrier was smashed open to get into the building.

More than 36 metres of copper wire which had already been installed was cut out and removed, as well as copper wire on a spool. An estimate of the value was not immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Jodi Knox at 519-824-1212, ext. 7363, email her at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
