On Jan. 11, 2017 members of the High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) executed a search warrant at a residence located in the Willow Road and Dawson Road area.

As a result of this search warrant, a large quantity of stolen property was recovered. This property ranged from bicycles, bicycles parts, cell phones, GPS units, laptops, identity documents and other various items.

It is estimated that police recovered over 180 items believed to be stolen. So far 26 victims have been identified; however, only 10 victims actually reported the theft of their property to the police.

This particular project highlighted one of the realities of policing: many times property that is obviously stolen and then recovered,  has not ever been reported to police and may prove impossible to have it returned to its rightful owners.

This is a reminder to the take the time to document the identifiers of your property (make, model, serial #’s) and report any thefts to the police. This can be done easily through CopLogic by visiting the Guelph Police website at www.guelphpolice.ca

When completing the online form, try to fill in as many details of the property taken as possible.  If you do not have access to a computer then a report can be filed by calling (519) 824-1212.
