Couple steals gas for stolen car

On September 12, 2018, at approximately 4:19 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a business on Woodlawn Road in regard to a gas drive off.  Through investigation, it was learned that the vehicle was stolen. 

The stolen vehicle was then observed in the downtown area by police a short time later.  The vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed and for public safety, police did not pursue the vehicle.  Several units attended to the immediate area and observed the vehicle stuck in the construction area of Surrey Street and Bristol Street.  Police were able to block the vehicle from leaving the area and a male driver and female passenger were arrested. 

A 33-year-old Guelph male was charged with Theft Under $5000, Flight From Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Drive Disqualified, and five counts of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.  A 24-year-old Guelph female was charged with two counts of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.  Both parties are scheduled to appear in court on September 13, 2018.
