Crash results in impaired charges

On Feb. 11, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision at County Road 124 near Township Road 1, Township of Guelph-Eramosa.

An officer located the driver and vehicle which had left the highway and had collided with a railroad tracks warning light wig-wag.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the belief that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

Twenty-one-year-old Joshua Holmes of St. George has been charged with care or control while impaired, care or control over 80, open liquor, careless driving and operating an unsafe motor vehicle. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on March 6, 2018.
