Crystal meth, weapon found on man who pitched a tent on someone's property, police say

On April 11, 2019 at 3:17 p.m., Guelph Police went to 540 York Rd. for the report of unwanted persons on the property. These individuals had set up a tent on the property. Investigation determined that false names were provided to police by the two men. Subsequent to their arrest, a search discovered a small quantity of crystal meth and a prohibited weapon. It was also found that they were using electricity from the property.

A 61-year-old Guelph man has been charged with obstruct police, theft of electricity, possess prohibited weapon and possess a controlled substance. He will appear in court on May 24, 2019.

A 38-year-old Guelph man was wanted for fail to re-attend. He was further charged with obstruct police when he failed to provide his proper identity to police. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
