Deceased pedestrian identified in fatal Gordon St. collision

On Thursday Nov. 9, 2017 at approximately 6 p.m., a 63-year-old Guelph man was operating a motorized wheelchair northbound in the southbound curb lane of Gordon Street south of Poppy Drive. 

The wheelchair came into collision with a 2005 Ford Taurus that was travelling southbound in the southbound curb lane.  That motor vehicle was operated by a 45-year-old Burlington male. 

The 63-year-old was transported to Guelph General Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 7 p.m. 

The driver of the Ford Taurus did not suffer any injuries. 

Gordon Street was closed between Clair Road and Maltby Road for approximately 5 hours while the scene was examined by Collision Reconstruction Investigators. 

The man in this incident has been identified as 63-year-old Guelph resident James Holliday. 

A final determination has not been made on any charges in this collision.
