Despite numerous charges, 'racing' continues on Hanlon Expressway

Both vehicles were locked on radar in excess of 50 km/h above the posted 80 km/h speed limit

On Dec. 10, 2017 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph near Laird Road, City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a Chevrolet Silverado at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

Twenty-two-year-old Karam Jabbour of Kitchener has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Jan. 3, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.  

Shortly thereafter at approximately 11:20 a.m., an officer was monitoring traffic at the above location. The officer observed a male driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Fifty-nine-year-old Gary Tucker of Kitchener has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Jan. 3, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
