On Oct. 29 at approximately 1:30 a.m., there was an altercation between two groups of people in a downtown bar. A member from one of the groups was assaulted when he tried to keep the involved people separated.
Police arrived just as the incident was breaking up and the person responsible was identified and arrested as he was leaving the scene. The victim received some minor injuries from the assault.
Twenty-year-old Michael Gabretansea of Guelph was charged with assault and was released to appear in court at a later.
