Driver calls OPP after crashing car

TOWN OF ERIN - On Aug. 26, 2017 at approximately 10 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a driver who advised he had just been involved in a collision on County Road 50, Town of Erin. The driver advised the call taker that he had been consuming alcohol.

When officers arrived at the scene they located the male along with a 2013 Toyota Prius. The Prius had collided with a bulldozer sustaining severe front end damage. This occurred in a closed construction zone. The male suffered minor injuries.

While speaking with the male driver, the officer observed signs of alcohol consumption. He was arrested for impaired driving and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Thirty-seven-year-old Trevor Harvey of Erin has been charged with impaired driving and over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Oct. 3, 2017 to answer to the charges.
