Driver charged after allegedly striking street light, flipping vehicle

The driver attempted to flee the scene before losing control and flipping the vehicle onto its side trapping the driver inside

On Aug. 19, 2019, at 1:45 a.m., the driver of a Ford Explorer was southbound on Silvercreek Parkway North when he mounted the centre median at Willow Road and struck a street light.  The light sheared off and fell into the roadway.  The driver attempted to flee the scene before losing control and flipping the vehicle onto its side trapping the driver inside.  The driver was transported to Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. 

A 34-year-old Guelph male was charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Dangerous Driving, Refuse to Provide a Breath Sample and Novice Driver B.A.C. Above Zero.  The accused is set to appear in court on September 3, 2019.
