On Saturday, May 11, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Hanlon Parkway in the City of Guelph. At approximately 2:45 a.m., the driver of a sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they were under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result, Leah Fleming, 24-years-old of Oakville, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 11, 2019.
