Driver charged after motorcycle collision

WELLINGTON - On July 31, 2017 at approximately 6:25 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a Kia SUV and a motorcycle on Concession 9, Township of Wellington North.

Investigation revealed that a Kia SUV was travelling north bound on Concession 9 being followed by a Yamaha Motorcycle.  The driver of the Kia pulled over to the right shoulder then executed a U-turn across the path of the motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle sustained minor injuries when he collided with the side of the SUV.

59-year-old Linda Maxwell of Wellington North has been charged with turn not in safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. She is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court to answer to the charge.

Wellington County OPP reminds drivers that they share the highway with many types of users.

Not all vehicles operate at the same velocity, with the same visibility and with the same vulnerability as that of a typical passenger vehicle.

From tractors and motorcycles to horse back and bikes, roadway safety is all users' responsibility.
