Driver charged with impaired after striking a parked car: OPP

On Feb. 8, 2020, at approximately 10:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Egremont Street south in the Township of Wellington North. It was reported that a silver sport utility vehicle collided with a parked car and then fled the scene.

Police located the driver shortly after the vehicle was observed parked at a nearby residence. Officers spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The accused was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Aileen Ruth Capell, 36-years-old of Wellington North Township has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code and fail to remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on March 10, 2020 to speak to the charges.
