Driver charged with impaired after vehicle slides into ditch

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Nov. 13, 2018 at approximately 6 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single vehicle collision on Wellington Road 32 near Guelph. Reports indicated that a dark SUV slid off the roadway and entered the ditch.

Police attended and while speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing. No one was injured in the crash.

Sixty-six-year-old Kuljit Gill of Cambridge has been charged with driving with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Dec. 11, 2018.
