Driver clocked at more than 105 km/h over posted speed limit

43-year-old was driving in excess of 185 km/h in an 80 zone, say police

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On March 23, 2021 at approximately 3 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 south of Arthur. The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 185 km/h.

As a result, Christopher Williams, 43 years old of Listowel, has been charged with stunt driving - excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on July 7, 2021.

Their vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
