On June 27, 2017 at approximately 10:40 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a 2010 Kia Forte travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jazab Ali of Woodstock has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute and he will appear in Guelph Provincial Court Aug. 2, 2017.
