Driver faces impaired charges following collision

On Nov. 15, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m.  Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Shamrock Drive in Erin. The caller reported being sideswiped by a northbound motor vehicle. The northbound vehicle attempted to leave but could not due to damage on his vehicle.

Police attended and spoke with the driver and believed him to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

57-year-old Stephen Boyd of Erin has been charged with impaired driving, drive with more than 80 mg/alcohol in blood, fail to remain, and driving while under suspension.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Dec. 12, 2017.
