Driver faces racing charges

TOWN OF ERIN - On July 18, 2017 at approximately 12:15 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 26, near County Road 22, Town of Erin. 

The officer observed a male driving a 2007 Ford travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 133 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

45-year-old Fanosie Wolde of Fergus has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Sept. 6, 2017.

His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
