Driver flees police in stolen vehicle

On Dec. 27, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Guelph police patrol officers observed a Toyota being driven in the area of Brant Avenue and Montana Road. This vehicle was known to have been stolen. Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the Toyota fled. There was a short pursuit that was called off due to public safety concerns.

Shortly after the pursuit was discontinued, police found the stolen vehicle abandoned. Officers from various units attended and assisted in this investigation. As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of stolen property and two counts of breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
