Driver found over legal limit in school zone

On September 10, 2018, Guelph Police were engaged in speed enforcement on Scottsdale Drive as part of the initiative to make sure children return to school is a safe manner. Police stopped a motor vehicle which they observed to be travelling at an excessive speed through a school zone.

A traffic stop occurred, and as a result of the investigation that followed, the male driver of the motor vehicle provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The driver was found to be over the legal limit, and subsequently charged with Over 80.

David ALLEN, a 46-year-old Guelph male, was also found to be unlicensed, and did not have insurance for the motor vehicle.   ALLEN is scheduled to appear in court on September 25, 2018.

In total, 1 criminal charge, and 6 Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges were laid during this afternoon’s initiative.
