Driver locked on radar at over 200km/h

On Nov. 7, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Second Line near Sideroad 6, Nichol Township. The officer observed a male driving a 2004 Mazda RX8 coupe travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar over 200 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Twenty-three-year-old Jesse Jamie McNamara of Elora has been charged with dangerous driving operations of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is also charged with racing, operate unsafe vehicle, fail to notify change of address, fail to have insurance card, fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, fail to surrender licence, and drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit. 

He will appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Dec. 15, 2017.His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
