A Guelph man was arrested last week, two months after speeding away from police who tried to pull him over.

Last April 19, Guelph Police Service officers attempted to stop a pickup on Woolwich Street after queries revealed the owner was a prohibited driver.

The pickup driver refused to stop and accelerated away at a high rate of speed, running a red light at Speedvale Avenue without slowing down. The pursuit was discontinued in the interest of public safety.

The driver was later identified via surveillance video. He was located at an address in the south end Thursday and arrested. A 55-year-old Guelph man is charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited. He will appear in a Guelph court Aug. 5.
