Driver who reported car stolen charged with impaired

On Feb. 15 2019, Guelph Police investigated a possible stolen vehicle from the downtown area. Officers found the car in the downtown and the owner was notified.

A short time later, the officers stopped the same vehicle for running a stop sign and a red light. The investigation determined the driver had been drinking alcohol and was placed under arrest for impaired driving.

As a result Dylan Kirby, 29 years old, was charged with impaired driving, operating a vehicle over the legal limit, failing to stop for a stop sign and running a red light.

He is to appear in court on Feb. 26, 2019.
