A vehicle was spotted being “driven erratically” on the Hanlon Expressway early Friday morning, prompting a call to police which led to the impaired driving arrest of a Guelph man.

Guelph police received a driving complaint shortly before 1 a.m. A query of the licence plate revealed the owner lives in the city and the vehicle was located a short time later on Eramosa Road, explains a police news release.

The driver registered a “fail” on a roadside screening device and was taken to the station for follow-up testing, which reportedly revealed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

In addition to the impaired driving charge, the man’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a week.
