A Guelph female lost her job and faces eight criminal charges for allegedly defrauding her employer by switching price tags.

In December, a loss prevention officer at a business on Eramosa Road began an investigation after seeing the female switching tags and buying an item for less than its true cost. Over the next month she was seen doing so seven more times.

She was fired on Monday and two days later turned herself in to the Guelph police. A 26-year-old Guelph female is charged with eight counts of fraud under $5,000. She will appear in a Guelph court March 1.
