Erratic driving leads to impaired charges

Officers responded to the Rockwood area after receiving report of possible impaired driver

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA - On Oct. 22, 2021 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a traffic complaint on Highway 7, west of Rockwood. Initial reports indicated that a white sedan was being driven erratically.

Police attended and located the driver. Officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol and they were arrested.

As a result of the investigation Jacqueline Fabig, 54 years old of Niagara Falls, has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood).

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Nov. 23, 2021.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
