Female pedestrian dies after being struck by pickup in south end

Guelph police investigating after a female pedestrian died following a collision in the city’s south end Tuesday afternoon, report police.

Approximately 4:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the intersection of Clair Road East and Beaver Meadow Drive. Investigation revealed two Guelph females, aged 60 and 57, were crossing within the pedestrian crosswalk when they were struck by a Ford F-150 which was making a left turn.

Both females were transported to hospital where the 60-year-old sadly succumbed to her injuries. The other female was not seriously injured and is expected to make a full physical recovery.

The driver of the pickup, an adult male from New Hamburg, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The road was closed while members of the Guelph Police Service Traffic and Forensic Identification units conducted their investigation.
