A male faces an assault charge after a female was punched in the head Sunday morning while trying to check the wellbeing of a neighbour, report Guelph police.
An adult female called police about 7 a.m. to report the assault. She was inside a unit at a downtown apartment building when she heard yelling coming from a neighbouring apartment. When she went to check on the occupants, a male opened the door and punched her in the head twice following a short verbal confrontation. The victim was not injured.
Police attended the unit and arrested the male, who was also found to be wanted on several outstanding charges.
A 30-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault and breaching probation in relation to Sunday’s incident, as well as several property crimes and breaches related to the warrant. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
