Fergus man accused of impaired and dangerous driving

On Feb. 25, 2020, at approximately 11:10 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Wellington Road 125 involving a possible impaired driver.

Police located the white sport utility vehicle on Wellington Road 124 near Wellington Road 26 and observed the vehicle weaving within its lane and travelling at a speed in excess of 175 km/h.

Officers stopped the motor vehicle and while speaking to the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Aaron John Soehner, 27-years-old of Fergus has been charged with

  • Impaired
  • Impaired operation - 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood)
  • Dangerous driving contrary to the Criminal Code

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on April 2, 2020 to answer to the charges.
