WELLINGTON - On Aug. 20, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault that had occurred in front of an establishment at 59 Metcalfe St., Elora.
Investigation revealed that a verbal dispute erupted outside on the sidewalk involving the victim and several patrons of the establishment. The accused was sitting on a bench nearby. The accused got up and walked over to the victim and they exchanged words. (It is alleged that) the accused then punched the victim in his lower jaw. The victim was treated for injuries.
Thirty-seven-year-old Dwayne Reide of Fergus was arrested and charged with assault cause bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Oct. 27, 2017.
