Fergus man charged with impaired

In a separate incident dating back to Sept. 20, a Guelph woman was also charged with impaired and damaging a witnesses's cell phone

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Nov. 20, 2019, at approximately 8:55 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a motor vehicle on Perry Street near Black Street in Fergus.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Eric Egan, 23-years-old of Fergus has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood). A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 24, 2019.

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Sept. 20, 2019, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle collision on Jones Base Line south of Highway 7. Initial reports indicated that a driver had backed their vehicle into a parked vehicle and were attempting to leave the scene on foot. It was also reported that when the witnesses attempted to photograph the driver for identification, the driver grabbed the witness's phone and damaged it.

OPP responded and located the driver and while speaking with them, formed the opinion that they were under the influence of alcohol. A road side screening test was conducted and the driver registered a "fail." They were arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Emma Lindsay Bauman, 27-years-old of Guelph has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) and mischief under $5000. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Oct. 22, 2019.
