Fergus man driving wrong way on Hanlon Expressway charged with impaired

Three others face impaired driving charges in unrelated incidents

On June 7, 2019, at approximately 2:45 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a dangerous condition on the Hanlon Expressway in Guelph. Initial reports indicated that an operator of a sedan was travelling south in the northbound lanes with no headlights on.

OPP responded and stopped the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Michael J. McIntosh, 50 years old of Fergus, has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood).

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 12, 2019.

On June 8, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the driver of a grey sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Lidia Cristina Najera Contreras, 29 years old of Toronto has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 12, 2019.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Johnny Pitts, 47 years old of Cambridge, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 12, 2019.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 12, 2019.
