Fingerprint lifted from stolen vehicle leads to arrest

Some time overnight on Oct. 17, 2018, a motor vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence located near the intersection Victoria Road South and Stone Road East in the City of Guelph was taken.

On Oct. 18, 2018 at 8:45 p.m., the vehicle was recovered and during processing by a Guelph Police Service Scenes Of Crime Officer a fingerprint was lifted from the steering wheel. It was later learned that this fingerprint belonged to a 27-year-old Guelph male.

On Jan. 20, 2020 at 9:18 p.m., the male was located walking in the downtown core of the City of Guelph and was subsequently arrested.

He has been charged with:
    •    Possession of stolen property over $5,000
    •    Breach probation

He will appear in court on Feb. 28, 2020.
