Five drivers face impaired charges in two days

On Nov. 24, 2017 approximately 1:35 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Parkway near College Avenue, City of Guelph. At approximately 1:35, a 2018 Hyundai Elantra entered the R.I.D.E check.

While speaking with the male driver officers believed him to be driving while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

Forty-six-year-old Daniel Reynolds of League City, Texas, has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Dec. 22, 2017.

On Nov. 24, 2017 approximately 12:50 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County 51, Township of Guelph-Eramosa.

Officers arrived and found the driver had driven off the roadway into a culvert. While speaking to the driver officers believed her to be impaired by alcohol.

Twenty-three-year-old Angelia Hershey of Arthur has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and impaired driving, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day administrative driver's licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Dec. 19, 2017.

On Nov. 25, 2017 approximately 1:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Parkway near College Avenue, City of Guelph. At approximately 1:25, a 2007 Kia entered the R.I.D.E check.

While speaking with the male driver officers believed him to be driving while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

A 24-year-old man from Kitchener has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with novice driver with blood-alcohol above zero. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Dec. 19, 2017.

On Nov. 25, 2017 approximately 2:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted by a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver on County Road 109, Township of Wellington North.

Officers located the driver of a Chevrolet Traverse in a Tim Hortons parking lot. While speaking with the driver officers believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for further testing.

Forty-eight-year-old Armindo Medeiros of Brampton, has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Dec. 22, 2017.

On Nov. 25, 2017 approximately 9:40 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrol on Lake Road, Township of Puslinch. Officer stopped to speak with a driver of a 1999 GMC Jimmy who was parked at the side of the road near County 32.

While speaking with the driver officers believed him to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for further testing.

Sixty-year-old Daniel Oakes of Copetown, has been charged with care or control over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He was also charged with possession of schedule 1 drugs and having open alcohol. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Dec. 22, 2017.
