A Guelph male was arrested Tuesday after he fled the scene of a collision but his personalized licence plate didn’t, report Guelph police.

Approximately 5 p.m. Monday, a pickup truck was exiting a plaza on Silvercreek Parkway North when it collided with another vehicle, knocking off the truck’s licence plate. The male driver fled the scene without providing information.

A short time later a female returned in the same truck to speak to the victim. Witnesses confirmed she had not been driving at the time of the collision, and subsequent investigation confirmed the involved driver was the son of the owner.

A 24-year-old Guelph male was arrested Tuesday and is charged with failing to stop after a collision, breach of probation, failing to comply with a release order and driving without a licence. He will appear in a Guelph court April 5.
