On the Nov. 29 2017, the Guelph Police Service commenced an investigation into allegations against a 23-year-old Guelph support worker in relation to sexual offences involving a youth. On Nov. 30, 2017, Brittany Hastings was arrested and charged by the Guelph Police Service for sexual assault and sexual exploitation. Brittany Hastings was a support worker who was employed by the Avalon Horizon Inc. operated as Avalon Horizon from January 2017 to November 2017.

The Avalon Horizon Inc. o/a Avalon Horizon have been fully cooperative with the Guelph Police during this investigation. The charges related to this investigation stem from incidents that occurred from March 2017 to October 2017.
