With the assistance of the public the OPP have located the male in good health and are in the process of connecting him to his dog. The OPP would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.

2 p.m. original release

On Tuesday Aug. 29, 2017 Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a found dog and possible missing person near a trail on Birmingham Street East at Church Street, Mount Forest.

A witness had seen a local man, familiar to the area but name unknown, walking his dog as per usual. A short time later the dog was found unattended. The dog has since been turned over to animal control.

Officers have canvassed the area for the man but have not identified or located him. Police wish to reconnect him with his dog as well as ensure that he is safe.

The man is described as white, elderly, tall (approximately 6'/183cm), thin build, with a heavy cough. The man usually walks the dog in the area two to three times a day.       

The OPP is also actively seeking to locate the man. If anyone has seen the man or knows who he is, please contact Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
