TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Saturday, June 10, 2017 at approximately 8:15 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle on the East-West Garafraxa Town Line, south of Belwood.

Initial reports indicated that a southbound Jeep Liberty had lost control and crashed, and that one person had been ejected and another was trapped in the vehicle.

OPP as well as Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Services attended and treated four patients with varying degrees of injuries.

All were transported to a local hospital with the most seriously injured, the 17-year-old female driver, being airlifted with non-life-threatening injuries to a larger hospital.

The passengers included an 18-year-old male, a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female. All four parties are from the Guelph and Guelph/Eramosa areas.

Police continue to investigate the collision and charges may be pending.

The road was closed briefly but is now open.
