Man approaches female youth, police look to identify

On April 21, 2016 the Guelph Police investigated the report of a vehicle and male approaching a child in the area of College Avenue West and the Hanlon Expressway. It is alleged that at 3:30 p.m., a 12-year-old female was approached by the male in his vehicle on Hanlon Road. He asked the girl for help with his car. She spoke briefly with him and proceeded to walk to a house nearby. The male drove off, last seen north to College Avenue West.

Male Description:

Male, white, 30-40 years, approximately 1 inch long black hair, black moustache, spoke in a deeper voice, unknown clothing description.

Vehicle Description:

Beige/brown, 4 door sedan, rust around wheel wells and slight tint on rear windows.

Police call on Oxford Street

On April 21, 2016 at 9:48 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Oxford Street area for the report of possible gun shots. As a precaution, GCVI High School was put into hold and secure at 10:22 a.m. The police search led to a specific house on Oxford Street. The home was contained and three male youths were identified and investigated. It was discovered that the noise was firecrackers being set off. The hold and secure was lifted at 10:53 a.m.

Collision involving two vehicles and a house

On April 21, 2016 at 5:21 p.m., the Guelph Police went to York Road and Stevenson Street for a collision. In total two vehicles were involved and a house was also struck. Four people were taken to Guelph Hospital with minor injuries.

H.E.A.T. arrest

On April 21, 2016 members of the High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) observed a male on Carden Street that was alleged to have broken into the laundry room of 90 Carden Street on March 30, 2016. The male was arrested. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a knife and small quantities of Marihuana and Crystal Methamphetamine.

A 26-year-old Guelph male has been charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter tools, mischief under $5,000 and breach of probation from the March 30 incident. He was further charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, carry a concealed weapon and three counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 22, 2016.
