Dangerous driving, break and enter, and assaullt charges

On Wednesday August 9, 2017 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Guelph Police responded to a complaint about a number of modified cars being driven erratically in the parking lot of the arena at College Heights School on College Avenue West.

Police attended to the area and observed two motor vehicles doing "burnouts" in a parking lot and then accelerating to a high rate of speed. The motor vehicles were travelling one in front of the other but appeared to be racing.

Both vehicles were stopped without incident. A 19-year-old Guelph male and a 21-year-old Guelph male were both arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Racing.

Both drivers are scheduled to appear in court in September.

 

On August 10, 2017, Guelph Police went to a Stone Road West residence to assist a Sheriff with the Ministry of The Attorney General with an eviction.

At 10:09 a.m., the female resident returned home and was advised that she was now evicted. She then attempted to gain entry to her residence and in doing so charged at and pushed the Sheriff.

Mylinda McCooeye, 51 years of Guelph has been charged with assault. She will appear in court on September 15, 2017. 

 

On August 10, 2017, at 7:49 p.m., a man was standing with his family enjoying the festivities on Carden Street.

A male unknown to him approached from behind and started yelling. The man attempted to ignore him and turned away. The male then struck him on his neck with an open palm and continued yelling. Police attended and the male was arrested. No injuries are reported.

A 34-year-old Guelph man has been charged with assault and three counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on August 11, 2017.

 

On August 8, 2017 the Guelph Police investigated a break and enter to a Crimea Street business where a laptop was stolen. Investigation has led to two males being identified. On August 10, 2017 one of the males was arrested. The second male is still outstanding.

A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged with break, enter and commit theft and four counts of breach YCJA probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on August 11, 2017. 

 

On August 10, 2017, the Guelph Police Service went to a Dunlop Drive business to investigate a break and enter. The theft occurred on August 8, 2017. A theft of approximately $1,500 worth of copper wire is reported.
