Guelph Police responded to 216 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Female facing numerous charges after refusing to leave
On Jan. 16, 2020 at 11:34 p.m., employees of a business located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph contacted the Guelph Police Service in regards to an adult female who was refusing to leave the store.

At 11:37 p.m., police arrived at the scene, spoke with the female and she was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed stolen clothing valued at $27.97 and 0.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine valued at $140.

A 38-year-old Guelph female has been charged with:
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Possession of a controlled substance (crystal methamphetamine)
    •    Fail to leave when directed

She will appear in court on March 3, 2020.

Male arrested after commercial break-in
On Jan. 16, 2020 at 5:04 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service observed the lights on inside an unoccupied commercial building located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. A search was conducted of the building and an adult male was located sleeping in the garage area of the property. He was subsequently arrested.

A 59-year-old Guelph male has been charged with break, enter, with intent.

He will appear in court on Jan. 21, 2020.
