In the last 24 hours, Guelph Police dealt with 233 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph police Service:

Bike patrol - arrest
On July 19, 2018 at approximately 4:22 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Bike Patrol Unit were conducting patrol on the trails by Royal City Park. While patrolling, they observed a male with a bicycle which they believed to be stolen.

Through investigation, it was learned that the bicycle was in fact stolen. The male was arrested for possession of stolen property. Search incident to arrest, the male was further charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, which are believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana.

A 54-year-old Guelph male is scheduled to appear in court on July 20, 2018.

Break and enter investigation
On July 19, 2018 Guelph Police went to the Habitat for Humanity construction site located on Cityview Drive South. The culprit(s) entered the site sometime overnight, went inside the unfinished townhomes and randomly cut wires throughout the homes. This construction has been marred with thefts and property damage since it started.
