At approximately 8 p.m. on March 16 an alert patrol officer saw a woman walking on Carden Street that was wanted for an outstanding arrest warrant for unauthorized use of a credit card.

Arrest warrant leads to additional charges

At approximately 8 p.m. on Mar. 16 an alert patrol officer saw a woman walking on Carden Street that was wanted for an outstanding arrest warrant for unauthorized use of a credit card. The woman was approached and arrested for that warrant. During the search of her person, she was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, prescription pills, marihuana and a folding knife.

The 34-year-old Guelph woman was held in custody to appear in bail court for three counts drug possession, two counts of breach of probation, carry a concealed weapon and unauthorized use of credit card charges.

K9 tracks down suspect

On Mar. 17, 2017 at 12:40 a.m. a home owner on Regent Street caught a male stealing items from inside her vehicle. When she ran to call police , the suspect fled on foot through her backyard.

Police Service Dog General was deployed to track the suspect. After 500 meters the suspect was located by the police dog and placed under arrest for theft under $5,000. During the track, the K9 team was also able to recover stolen property that had been dropped by the suspect along the way. The property was returned to its owner. 

Kevin Fabian, 46 years of age from Guelph was later released from custody and is to appear in court in May.

Thefts from vehicles

It was reported to police that six vehicles were entered over the day on Sanderson Drive,  Bristol Street, Edgehill Drive, Gordon Street , Stone Road and as mentioned above, on Regent Street. There was a variety of loose change and personal property taken from each vehicle.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
