Guelph Police responded to 156 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Special Investigation Unit invokes mandate after incident
On Saturday the 21st of March 2020 just after 5 p.m., officers attended to the area of Waterloo Avenue and Silvercreek Parkway South in the City of Guelph in response to a call for service. Three adult males were injured with non-life threatening injuries.

One male was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the 27th of March 2020.

The Guelph Police Service have notified the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) about the incident, who have invoked their mandate to investigate.

No further details on this incident will be released by the Guelph Police Service. Any further inquiries can be made to the SIU.

Multiple items stolen during residential garage break-in
Some time between noon on March 24 and noon on March 25, 2020, the garage of a residence located near the intersection of Kortright Road East and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple items (valued at $850) were taken including a bag of competitive axes, Milwaukee SAWZALL saw and floral covered Herschel backpack. Entry was gained as the garage door was left open.

Vehicle damaged during attempted theft
Some time over the past week, a vehicle parked in a commercial parking lot located near the intersection of Taggart Street and Watson Parkway South in the City of Guelph was damaged. The rear passenger side door had been pried open and the ignition system just under the steering wheel appeared to be ripped or pried open.
