Guelph Police Service dealt with 270 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Youth robbed of his shoes – three arrested
On May 16, 2019, Guelph Police investigated the report of a robbery that had occurred on May 14, 2019. Investigation discovered that three male’s had robbed a younger male of his running shoes. No injuries resulted from this incident.

An 18-year-old Guelph man has been charged with robbery and will appear in court on June 25, 2019.

The other two males, both 17-year-old’s from Guelph, have been charged with robbery and will appear in court on June 26, 2019.          

Break and enter - arrest
On May 17, 2019, at 2:53 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a break and enter at a Paisley Road building that is under construction. Police located a man near the area and investigation determined that he was the man that had entered the building and he was arrested. The man had in his possession, a quantity of wire as well as tools.

The 40-year-old Guelph man has been charged with break/enter and commit, possess stolen property and possess break/enter tools.  He will appear in court on July 2, 2019.

H.E.A.T. makes arrest
On May 16, 2019 at 1:04 p.m., members of HEAT were downtown on bike and foot patrol when they observed a male at 90 Carden Street. This man was known to be on court-imposed conditions that included, not attending 90 Carden Street. He was arrested.

The 19-year-old Guelph man has been charged with two counts of breach probation. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Three arrested on warrants
A 19-year-old Guelph man arrested on a warrant for breach undertaking. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 30-year-old Guelph man arrested on a warrant for fail to re-attend court. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 48-year-old Guelph man arrested on grounds to arrest from a shoplifting incident that occurred on May 13. He will appear in court on July 12, 2019.

Break and enter
On May 16, 2019, the Guelph Police went to a Chancellors Way apartment for the report of a break and enter. Entry was gained through a window and a theft of electronics is reported.

Theft from cars
On May 16, 2019, the Guelph Police received four reports of theft from cars. The locations were Westra Drive, Forest Street, West Acres Drive and Dufferin Street.

This crime is easily avoidable. Please lock your cars and do not leave belongings visible. If you do become a victim of this crime you can report it through the Guelph Police online reporting portal.
