The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:
Weapons arrest
On Sept. 20, 2018 at approximately 9:45 a.m., Guelph Police received a call about a male with a collapsible baton and a knife in the area of Windsor Street and Waverly Drive.
Police attended to the area and a male was arrested without incident. Andrew Hurlbut, a 35-year-old Guelph male was charged with two counts of weapons dangerous, two counts of carry a concealed weapon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, which are believed to be marijuana and fentanyl.
Hurlbut is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 30, 2018.
RIDE Program
On the evening of Sept. 20, 2018 and into the early morning of Sept. 21, 2018, Guelph Police conducted a RIDE Program throughout the City of Guelph. During this time, over 400 vehicles were stopped.
Guelph Police administered five roadside screening device, and issued one three-day suspension.
Collision – UPDATE
On Sept. 14, 2018 at approximately 4:49 p.m., the Guelph Police responded to a collision on Paisley Road between Alma Street North and Bagot Street. Police learned that an eastbound truck pulling a flatbed trailer and backhoe made contact with overhead hydro wires, pulling them down and damaging the services for a home on Paisley Road. The responsible vehicle was last seen leaving the area eastbound on Paisley Road dragging some of the steel power line. Police are looking to speak to the driver. Guelph Police have received an image of the responsible vehicle.
UPDATE: The Guelph Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter. The responsible vehicle and driver were identified. The investigation is ongoing.
