Guelph Police responded to 226 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Recovered bicycle
On Sept. 23, 2020 just prior to 9:45 a.m., police observed an adult male operating a maroon Mongoose Sting 24-speed mountain bicycle in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. After seeing police, the male fled the area, entered a nearby parkade and left the bicycle behind. The bicycle was seized as police have reason to believe it’s stolen property and would like to return it to its owner.

Female arrested after shoplifting from same store twice
On Nov. 13, 2019 at 2:52 p.m., [it is alleged that] an adult female shoplifted $556.95 worth of merchandise from a store located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph by concealing it her purse. The stolen merchandise included a variety of cosmetic, nail care and skin care products.

On Dec. 27 at 2:13 p.m., [it is alleged that] the female shoplifted $80.73 worth of merchandise from the same store by concealing it in a bag. The stolen merchandise included foundation products, jewellery accessories and formula products.

On Sept. 24, 2020 at 7:29 p.m., police located the female at a residence in the downtown core. She was subsequently arrested.

A 70-year-old Guelph female has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.

She will appear in court on Jan. 15, 2021.

Toyota Tacoma stolen
Some time overnight on the evening of Sept. 24, 2020, a white 2005 Toyota Tacoma was taken from the driveway of a residence located near the intersection of Grange Road and Starwood Drive in the City of Guelph. A spare key was left in the glove compartment. The vehicle contained numerous items including:
    •    Canadian military regimental headdress
    •    Small pocket knife

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to always lock your vehicles and to never leave keys or valuables inside your vehicles.

Male arrested for shoplifting alcohol
On Sept. 10, 2020 at 4:17 p.m., [it is alleged that] an adult male shoplifted $53.90 worth of alcohol from a store located near the intersection of Wellington Street West and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph by concealing it within his clothing.

On Sept. 24 at 9:43 a.m., police located the male and he was subsequently arrested.

A 40-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Breach of probation x2

He will appear in court on Dec. 22, 2020.
